Two players, one room, no witnesses
An escape room for two is a different game. Fewer hands, fewer ideas, and absolutely nobody else to blame.
Most escape rooms are designed for four to six players: the puzzles run in parallel, and someone is always meant to be searching while someone else is thinking. Take that down to two and the whole thing changes. You will not finish faster. You will talk more, split up less, and remember it better.
It is also, quietly, the best test of a couple we know of. Sixty minutes, a locked door, and a shared deadline. Some people book a restaurant. You can do that afterwards.
Which rooms actually take two players?
This is where most websites stay vague. We will not: eleven of our thirty-six Paris-region missions accept a team of two. Everything else needs three, four, or in the case of the murder parties, eleven.

The short version: if you are two and you want a choice, go to La Défense or Roissy-CDG. In central Paris, there is exactly one room for you, and it happens to be the scary one.

Haunted Room
You investigate the paranormal. The hotel owner swears there is a presence in room 1408. She is not wrong. At two, in the dark, with nobody else to stand slightly closer to, this one earns its reputation.
Los Bandidos
A Mexican cantina, a safe nobody is supposed to know about, and a gang already arguing about the split. Built to be readable at two: fewer locks, more looking, and a decent amount of laughing.
Walking Dead
The virus is out, the city has fallen, and you have sixty minutes to find the cure. Our most physical mission, and at two it becomes genuinely tense. Not the one to pick for a first date, unless you are certain.

What does it cost for two?
The room is private whether you are two or ten, so two players share the whole cost between them. That makes a duo the most expensive way to play, and there is no way around it.

Ninety euros for sixty minutes, in a private room, with a Game Master watching over you. Compare it with a decent dinner for two in Paris before deciding it is expensive. And if a third friend is available, the price per person drops to €39 or €40.
Five things that change when you are two
Say everything out loud
With four players, someone overhears you. With two, if you do not say it, it does not exist. Narrate what you find, even when it seems pointless.
Do not split up
The usual advice is to spread out. At two it is the opposite: stay together, work one puzzle at a time, and finish what you start.
Take the hints
Hints are free and unlimited. At two you will need more of them, and the Game Master has seen far worse. Pride is optional.
Expect to lose
Escape rates drop with small teams. Nobody minds. The story you tell afterwards is not about whether you got out.
Pick the right room
A room built for eight will feel enormous with two. Stick to the eleven listed above, they are the ones that work at that size.
Book ahead
Two-player slots are the first to go at weekends, precisely because so few rooms allow them. Book before you travel.

Can two people really do an escape room?
Yes, in eleven of our thirty-six Paris-region missions. The others are designed for three, four or more players, and the booking system will not let you take them as a duo.
Which is the best escape room for two players in Paris?
Haunted Room if you want atmosphere, and it is the only duo option in central Paris. Los Bandidos if you want something lighter. Walking Dead if you want your pulse to do the talking. The last two are at La Défense and Roissy-CDG.
How much is an escape room for two in Paris?
€45 per person, so €90 for the pair, at all three venues. Weekends cost the same as weekdays. Adding a third player brings it down to €39 or €40 each.
Is it harder with only two players?
Yes. Fewer people means fewer hands and fewer ideas, and escape rates drop. Take the hints, stay together, and treat the sixty minutes as the point rather than the score.
Can we play in English?
Yes. Every mission is playable entirely in English, including the briefing, the clues and the debriefing. Mention it when you book or when you arrive.
Is it a good idea for a date?
Sixty minutes locked in a room with a shared problem tells you more than a dinner does. Choose Los Bandidos for a first date and Walking Dead only once you know each other reasonably well.
